CMC Show for Art Walk! 1/29/10

My new series shows tonight at the CMC in Gainesville for Art Walk January. The show is hung and looks great. I'll post pictures from the event soon!

Virgin Series Complete!

I just finished up my "Revelation of the Virgin to the Artist" series! I am very happy with the paintings and the way that the project has grown. Each painting is titled as a different apparition of the virgin Mary. The series is intended to explore abstractions of traditional iconic paintings of these apparitions. Initially, i wanted the series to focus on Our Lady of Guadalupe and the images commonly associated with her. As the project matured I felt that instead of focusing on a single subject/context I should explore the phenomenon of her appearance to people around the world. More on this later. For now, here are the final pieces.

New Website

Check out my new website!

I will continue to update the blog from time to time to show progress on new paintings. Finished paintings will be published on the website. So please check out both.

For now, the website doesn't have much content but I am working on this daily.

More in Revelation Series

Newest progress in the series. Some of these are getting very close to being done. Exciting.

New Progress in Revelation Series

Here is the new progress in my series Revelation of the Virgin to the Artist. It is now up to five pieces in progress with all near completion. It's been an interesting change to work a subjectively cohesive series like this. The concept has spurred new ideas for upcoming projects. For now I will be focusing on getting these pieces wrapped up and ready to show.

Pics of framed pieces in CMC show

Here the pictures of my pieces in the CMC show back in July. Took a break and have been working slowly on the revelation series. More on that later.
